The site of this project is Wards Island and Randall’s Island, which were connected in the 1930’s. The two islands joined by landfill were to be cleared for playing fields and promenades that would take advantage of the Mid-Manhattan skyline views.
Randall’s Island Park Alliance/Borough requested sub-surface installation of new high voltage cables & PVC data conduits. As part of a term contract, JFK&M was awarded the project to provide the electrical design services for the installation of power & communication lines from Icahn Stadium transformer station to Parks trailers complex. This is approximately 2,300 feet of run from the existing transformer location to a new temporary Parks Trailer Complex. The scope also included the design of switchgear, step-down transformer and electrical distribution panel necessary for future power distribution to the new temporary Parks’ trailers.
The consultant team reconfirmed the data provided by the agency, inspected the site, collected missing information, and prepared all required drawings for filling and approval of the plans with all required city/state agencies including the Department of Buildings, Department of Transportation, Con Edison, TBTA, etc. They also obtained all required work permits
