ACEC 2023 Engineering Excellence Awards: JFK&M Receives a Gold Award
JFK&M Receives a Gold Award from ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards
JFK&M has been awarded a 2023 ACEC Design Excellence Award in the Building & Technology Systems Category, recognized for the Phase 1A Renovation of the Lawrence and Eris Field Building at City University of New York’s Baruch College.
Standing on the original footprint of The City College of New York’s Free Academy established in 1847, the current landmark structure constructed in 1928 carries an enduring legacy to serve students with a best-in-class, affordable education. Working with Davis Brody Bond, the Phase 1A renovation puts an emphasis on historic preservation with an infill to the shell over 11 floors, MEP/FP upgrades for the entire facility, ADA compliance, comfort, efficiency, safety, new emergency systems, and preparing infrastructure systems to eventually meet LEED criteria. The renovation brings a phased approach to achieve sustainability goals set by the University while meeting budget requirements given the timeline of funding for the project.
